SECRETARY GENERAL CONGRATULATES NEW RWANDA PREMIER AND MINISTER OF EAC AFFAIRS

The newly appointed Prime Minister of the Republic of Rwanda, Rt. Hon. Anastase Murekezi.
Hon. Amb. Valentine Rugwabiza, newly appointed Minister for East African Community of the Republic of Rwanda.

The Secretary General of the East African Community Amb. Dr. Richard Sezibera has sent a message of congratulations to the newly appointed Prime Minister of the Republic of Rwanda, Rt. Hon. Anastase Murekezi, and to Hon. Amb. Valentine Rugwabiza, who has been appointed Minister for East African Community of the Republic of Rwanda.

In separate messages dispatched to Kigali today, the Secretary General congratulated Rt. Hon. Murekezi upon his appointment saying “your appointment is, indeed, a reflection of the trust and confidence that HE Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda and the people of Rwanda have in you to direct the affairs of State in fulfillment of their aspirations”.

“We at the East African Community, are cognizant of your enormous contribution to the Republic of Rwanda in many capacities, including as Minister of Public Service and Labor and are, therefore, confident that you will continue to play a strategic role and to provide leadership towards the continued development and unity of not only the Republic of Rwanda, but also the East African region as a whole” concludes the Secretary General.

The Secretary General’s message to Hon. Amb. Valentine Rugwabiza, newly appointed Minister for East African Community of the Republic of Rwanda states that ““your appointment is, indeed, a reflection of the trust and confidence that His Excellency the President has in you to provide effective leadership in advancing the aspirations of the people of Rwanda and the entire East African region”. 

“The Community looks forward to benefitting from your experience and wise counsel, as we widen and deepen the East African integration” concludes the Secretary General.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General has conveyed most heartfelt condolences, on behalf of the entire Community, to Ms. Joyce Mapunjo, the Permanent Secretary in Tanzania’s Ministry of East African Cooperation following the death of her Beloved husband, Prof. Zakaria Mbwambo. Prof. Zakaria Mbwambo passed on Saturday 19th July 2014 and was laid to rest in Kimara, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on Tuesday 22nd July, 2014.
